JCE Agriculture

How to use JCE Agriculture past papers

The Junior Certificate Examination (JCE) is taken at the end of junior secondary school in Botswana and marks the move into senior secondary school.

Agriculture combines facts about crops, animals and soil with practical understanding. Past papers show how theory is tested and how questions connect to real farming situations.

Look for questions on crop production, livestock, soil and water, farm tools and management, and on diagrams and everyday farming examples.

At junior secondary level, many subjects are examined across the whole syllabus. Use past papers to find the topics you have not revised yet, then go back to your notes and textbook for those topics first.

Study tips

• Learn the key terms and processes, then link each one to a real example you have seen or done.
• Practise labelling diagrams of tools, plants, animals and soil.
• For process questions, write the steps in the correct order.
• Use practical lessons at school as revision. Think about what you did and why.
• Revise safety and good practice, since these often appear in questions.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Giving general answers without a specific example.
• Writing process steps in the wrong order.
• Leaving diagrams unlabelled or poorly labelled.

This is general study guidance and not an official syllabus. Always check your current syllabus and exam requirements with your school or the examination board.
